W.I.N.G.S.
Our Learning Disability program at Toledo Christian Schools is called WINGS because our students are "Wonderful in God's Sight". We believe that God creates all of our students in a unique and special way. The program is designed to meet those unique needs of the student with a learning disability.
For those students who qualify, forty minutes is provided in the Resource Room daily with the Learning Disability Specialist. During that period, time is spent in areas of academic need. The program services as many students as the schedule permits each year.
Remedial Reading Program
The goal of the Remedial Reading Program is to provide appropriate remediation to promote mastery of the classroom reading program. Elementary students that experience difficulty with learning to read and/or progressing in their reading skills receive assistance through Reading Clubs. In these small group sessions, students are prepared to enjoy the same reading experiences as their peers, while at the same time improving their individual reading skills. At the Junior High level, intensive instruction in reading and writing strategies based on grade level literature is offered to select students as a part of their regular weekly schedule. Student progress is closely monitored across the grades though collaboration with the classroom teachers and follow-up support in the classroom. A qualified teacher is responsible for all instruction and evaluation of students.
