Ms. Pontious holds a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and a M.Ed. in Elementary Education. Ms. Pontious has taught Kindergarten, Pre-K and has been the Director of Precious People Preschool in Toledo, Ohio and LaPetite Academy in Beavercreek, Ohio. She has four children, three currently attending TCS and one eaglet eager to attend the Eagle’s Nest next fall. The family attends Calvary Church.

Kayley Smigielski

Mrs. Smigielski teaches Preschool in the Toledo Christian Eagle’s Nest. She holds an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Owens Community College. Mrs. Smigielski has taught in different preschool settings since 2009 with the 2016-17 school year being her first year at TCS. She and her husband Luke have one child, 2 year old Lorelai. The family attends Wood County Baptist Church.

Heather Taylor

Heather Taylor teaches Pre-Kindergarten in the TCS Eagle’s Nest. She holds a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Mrs. Taylor has been teaching in Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten since 2005. She and her husband Andy have two daughters, Rylie and Madison, both current TCS students. Their family attends Perrysburg Alliance Church.

Paul Barney

Mr. Barney has been teaching at TCS for 20 years. He has taught 5th grade, middle school, and high school. His wife’s name is Melissa and they have been married 27 years. They have 3 sons, all of whom have graduated from TCS, Kyle ’08, Caleb ’09, and Luke, ’13. He has also been the varsity track coach since 1994. He enjoys movies, long walks on the beach, and other clichés. His family attends Northpoint Church.

Ms. Cassity works in the MS/HS Library as the Assistant Librarian and is also the After School Study Table Supervisor. She holds a B.A. in English from Muskingum University and graduated in 2009 from Toledo Christian. Ms. Cassity started in the library in 2013. She attends Cedar Creek South Campus.

Rebekah Clark

French & Latin

Miss Clark teaches high-school French and Latin.  She holds a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Findlay, majoring in Spanish and TESOL.  Having taught English, Spanish, French, and German at the secondary and adult levels in public, online, and Christian school settings, Miss Clark has also served as a teacher of missionaries’ children in Lomé, Togo, and English instructor in Slovakia.  She attends Grace United Methodist in Perrysburg.

Don Dressel

Mr. Dressel has been teaching in Christian schools for the past 30 years. He holds degrees from the National Institute of Technology (Biomedical Electronics/Communications), and holds BA degrees from the Moody Bible Institute in Education and Pastoral Theology. Mr. Dressel has taught secondary math ranging from Algebra I through Calculus, various Computer Programming courses, Biology, Physics, and a number of Bible related classes. He has coached boys and girls volleyball, basketball, football, and track. Mr. Dressel attends Waterville Community Church.

Michele Durbin

Mrs. Durbin holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Toledo. Prior to homeschooling her children, she taught in the public school system for 9 years. Her oldest son graduated from the TC Homeschool Program and she currently has 3 daughters attending on campus. Mrs. Durbin is a TCS alumni. She and her husband, Ron, both met at Toledo Christian. The Durbin Family attends CedarCreek Church.

Ralph Felzer

Mr. Felzer teaches High School English and serves as chair of the English department. He received both his B.A. in English Literature and M. Ed. in Secondary Education from the University of Toledo. He has taught Composition at both the University of Toledo and Owens Community College for over 25 years. Mr. Felzer is married to his favorite Canadian (Sandy) and has three adult step-children. He and his wife attend Grace Church.

Mr. Greenlee teaches middle school and high school choirs, and is the head baseball coach and an assistant varsity football coach. Mr. Greenlee graduated from Great Lakes Christian College in Lansing, MI with BRE’s in Biblical Theology and Christian Education, minoring in music and counseling.  Mr. Greenlee is married to Heather and they have three children, Taylor, Zach, and Calyb.  The Greenlees’s attend St Paul Lutheran Church whereas Mr. Greenlee serves as Youth Pastor there.

Miss Herschelman teaches middle and high school band and a music theory class. She is from Lorain, Ohio and attended the University of Toledo earning her Bachelor’s in Music Education. Miss Herschelman currently attends St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania.

Mrs. Johnson teaches Middle School Math and Algebra 1. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Regents College in Albany, NY. She and her husband have 3 grown children and two grand babies, with one more on the way. Mrs. Johnson and her husband attend Cornerstone Church, Eastwood Campus. Cathleen and her husband live on a small hobby farm with cows, chickens and a horse.

Andrea Kanfeld

Mrs. Kanfeld teaches ACT Prep, Old Testament Survey, and Foods. She has been teaching in Christian schools for 16 years. Mrs. Kanfeld has a B.S. from Bowling Green State University. She and her husband John have four children: three TCS graduates and one current TCS student. Mrs. Kanfeld is an adviser for various leadership programs, which support young people to be leaders both in and outside of the TCS community.

Jeff Kempton

Mr. Kempton teaches English I, History, Geography, and English III. He holds a B.A. in English Education from Nyack College and The University of Georgia. In addition, he holds a M.A. in Organizational Management from Spring Arbor University. Mr. Kempton has worked with teens as a coach, teacher, and pastor since 1982. He and his wife, Tracy, have three children: Tyler, Kyle, and Annie. They attend Grand Rapids Presbyterian Church where he pastors.

 

Danielle Keyes

Danielle Keyes is TCS’ School Guidance Counselor. She received her undergrad in Psychology at Hope College and her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Spring Arbor University. Ms. Keyes enjoys spending time with her daughter Hope, a good cup of coffee, traveling, spending time with family/friends and working out. Ms. Keyes is also training her Golden Retriever dog to be a therapy dog. She attends CedarCreek Church.

Ryan Lynch

Mr. Lynch teaches our Video Production & Editing class. He holds a BFA in Film Production and AAS in Multimedia Design from the Art Institute of Chicago. Mr. Lynch has over 10 years experience working for Tv television stations, agencies, and churches, and owns a Video Business in Maumee OH.  He and his wife Darcie have 3 children under the age of 6 and attend CedarCreek Church.

Mrs. Maccariella teaches middle and high school art. This is her sixth year teaching art after teaching in the Eagle’s Nest for seven years prior. She holds a B.F.A. from Siena Heights University (1990) and has a passion for teaching art. She and her husband, Michael, have two children that have been attending TCS since PreKindergarten and are now a senior and a sophomore. The family attends Calvary Church.

Tasha McGraner

Mrs. McGraner teaches high school life sciences, and coaches tennis. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Wright State University and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction – STEM from Concordia University. Mrs. McGraner has taught sciences, math, and Bible in two private middle/high schools settings over nine years. She and her husband Chris have three dogs and have been married for eleven years.  They currently attend Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Kelli Mewborn

Mrs. Mewborn teaches sixth grade science, math and Bible, and is also the intervention specialist for middle and high school. She has masters’ degrees in both education and sociology, and has a B.A. in psychology. Mrs. Mewborn has taught at TCS for 11 years. Prior to teaching, she was a licensed social worker.  Mrs. Mewborn, her husband ,Todd and son, Jacob attend Crossroads Community Church. Her son, Jacob is a senior at TCS.

Marie Minniear

Physical Science, Chemistry, Department Chair & Lead Teacher

Ms. Minniear has taught Chemistry and Physical Science since 2005. She holds a B.S. in Geology from the University of Toledo. Ms. Minniear believes that scientific methods are a beautiful way to train the mind and study the creation, thereby gaining insight into the nature and attributes of the Creator. All three of her children are TCS graduates. Ms. Minniear is a member of Grace Church.

Jim Pinkelman

Jim has been at TCS since 2005 in various positions. He began as an assistant Cross Country coach taking over as the Head coach in 2009. He is also has been the High School Theatre Director since 2010. He became a teacher, first part time and then full time in 2012. He enjoys all he does at TCS and looks forward to what God has planned for him in the future. He loves spending time with his family and participating in triathlons.

Paula Prediger

Mrs. Prediger’s Physical Education experience includes all ages from pre-school thru high school. Dennis Rabb

Dennis Rabb has taught English and Bible at TCS for 29 years. He holds a BA from Judson University, a M. Div. from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, and teaching credentials from the University of Toledo. Dennis has been married to Cheri for 35 years this coming June, and together they have enjoyed three children: Rachel, Timothy, and Stephen, who has Downs Syndrome and has been a continual blessing. They attend Bedford Alliance Church.

Jim Sheets

Spanish & Bible

Mr. Sheets (Señor Sheets) has taught at Toledo Christian for the past 18 years. He currently teaches Spanish levels One, Two, and Three as well as the Junior Bible classes (Acts). Mrs. Sheets also works at TCS as the front desk Receptionist. They have three children and two grandchildren. Prior to coming to Toledo Christian Schools, the Sheets were missionaries in Mexico and ministered at Christian schools in Florida.

Andrew Skeels

Mr. Skeels teaches mathematics to the Toledo Christian high school students. He holds a Bachelors in Adolescent and Young Adult Education from Bowling Green State University. He also holds a State of Ohio certification to teach grades 7-12 in Mathematics. Mr. Skeels has taught high school mathematics for 5 years. He and his wife Hannah reside in South Toledo and have 2 children: Lena and Phoebe. The Skeels family attends Northpoint Church.

Scott Timberman

Mr. Timberman teaches high school U.S. History and Government. He holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from Anderson University, and a J.D. from Indiana University School of Law–Bloomington.  Prior to teaching at the high school level, Mr. Timberman practiced law in Indiana for five years. He and his wife Nicole, a TCS graduate, have four children, including two current TCS students. The family attends Covenant Church in Perrysburg where Mr. Timberman facilitates the youth ministry.

Pastor Dave Westmeyer is our Spiritual Life Director. He is a Toledo native who came to know Christ and was called to ministry in high school. Pastor Dave graduated from Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, FL., and has twenty five years of ministry experience. He married his high school sweetheart Debbie (Skeels) Westmeyer. The Westmeyers have two TCS graduates, a current senior, and a set of twins in kindergarten.

Miss Allison teaches 1st grade. She holds a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Lourdes University in Sylvania Ohio. Miss Allison is one of four children and was homeschooled for much of her previous education. She enjoys working at her church, Garden Park Christian with their high school youth group and spending time with her family and friends.

Miss Carrell has been at TCS for 30 years and is currently teaching second grade. Before teaching second grade for the last 9 years, she spent 21 years teaching third grade. For the last 10 years, Miss Carrell has also proctored the entrance testing for new students to TCS. She holds a B.Ed. and M.Ed. in Elementary Education from the University of Toledo. She attends Gateway Baptist Church.

Katie Castor

Mrs. Castor teaches second grade and previously taught prekindergarten in the Eagles Nest. She has a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Bowling Green State University. Mrs. Castor has taught for six years in public and private settings. She and her husband Tim, both TCS alumni, have four children: one baby and three current TCS students. The family attends First Alliance Church.

Karen Ciesler

Mrs. Ciesler teaches sixth grade history, math, Bible, and Latin this year. She graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri with bachelor’s degrees in both elementary education and education for the handicapped-developmentally disabled. She has been teaching in both Christian and public schools since the early 1990s.  She and her husband have 2 children, both alumni of TCS, and 2 grandchildren and another one being welcomed in January, 2017. Her family attends Maumee United Methodist.

Mrs. Connell holds a Masters in Elementary Education from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Mrs. Connell has taught elementary school in the public, private, and charter school systems. She and her husband Patrick moved to Ohio two years ago from Hartselle, Alabama. They attend church at Cedar Creek.

Mrs. Dieselberg teaches third grade. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Concordia University Chicago, with endorsements in Language Art and Middle School and a Minor in Theology.  Mrs. Dieselberg is in her third year of teaching, and has taught almost all subject areas to many different elementary grade levels. She and her husband Skyler are newlyweds, and the couple enjoys worship at Redeemer Fellowship Church in Monroe, Michigan.

Carrie Gorsuch

Mrs. Gorsuch teaches sixth grade language and literature, Latin, and directs middle school plays. She holds a masters degree in reading from The University of Toledo, did her undergraduate work at Cedarville University, and graduated from Toledo Christian High School. Mrs. Gorsuch has taught all grades from preschool through college. She and her husband, Scot, have five children, two of which are current TCS students.

Mrs. Heidebrink serves as the Librarian at Toledo Christian. She earned her B.A. in Library Science from Ashford University. She has worked in the TCS library for the last three years and in a public school library for five years prior to that. Mrs. Koester is a fifth grade teacher. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education with a specialization in math, science and reading, from Bowling Green State University. Ruth Nowak

Mrs. Nowak is the director of the WINGS program, as well as a reading specialist. She holds a M. Ed in Special Education from Bowling Green State University and has advanced training in the Orton-Gillingham method of teaching reading to dyslexic students. Her passion is helping students become better readers. She and her husband have three sons, all TCS graduates, and six grandchildren. They attend Maumee Valley Grace Brethren Church.

Amanda Phillips

Mrs. Phillips teaches Kindergarten at TCS. She holds a M.A. in Elementary Education from Liberty University and a M.A. in counseling from Oakland University. Mrs. Phillips was a guidance counselor in Virginia for three years before moving to the classroom. She and her husband Dexter live in South Toledo with their adorable, mischievous Beagle pup, Bailey! Mrs. Phillips and her husband attend Maumee Grace Brethren Church.

Miss Roush teaches Lower School Reading Club classes and one-on-one Orton-Gillingham tutoring sessions. She holds an M.Ed. from Regent University in K-12 Special Education with a Reading Specialist endorsement, as well as a B.A. in English Literature from Wheaton College. Miss Roush is a TCS graduate and is proud to be teaching at her alma mater. She attends CedarCreek Church in South Toledo.

Mrs. Segler holds a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and is certified to teach grades PreK-9.  Her undergraduate and masters studies in Drama/Theatre for the Young at Eastern Michigan University allowed her to travel extensively performing with the EMU TOY touring company. She began her teaching career at Toledo Christian in1986, and attends Harmony House of Rapha Ministries with her family.

Mrs. Sims is also a TCS alumni, she having graduated from Toledo Christian in 2008. She and her husband, Grant, both met at Toledo Christian. They now currently reside in Maumee, Ohio and attend Washington Church in Toledo, Ohio.

She and her husband Jim have two daughters who graduated from TCS. Mr. and Mrs. Tropf attend First Alliance Church.
