Eagle's Nest

Jill Seaver


Mrs. Seaver is our preschool teacher. She holds a degree in elementary education from Valparaiso University. She has taught preschool, kindergarten and 2nd grade professionally and homeschooled her children. She and her husband, Todd, have 3 children, Helene, Andrew and Marie. Their family are members at All Saints Lutheran Church. Mrs. Seaver is an avid runner and dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Kayley Smigielski



Mrs. Smigielski teaches PreKindergarten in the Toledo Christian Eagle’s Nest. She holds an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Owens Community College. Mrs. Smigielski has taught in different preschool settings since 2009 with the 2016-17 school year being her first year at TCS. She and her husband Luke have two children, 3 year old Lorelai, and 1 year old Shiloh. The family attends Cedar Creek Church, Whitehouse campus.

Michelle Walker



Mrs. Walker is one of our Pre-Kindergarten teachers in the Eagle’s Nest. Michelle has a Diploma of Ministries from Adelaide College of Ministry in Australia. Michelle and Darren are parents to Jess and Nathan (both at TCS), and Katie (a college grad). The Walkers worship at Westgate Chapel where Michelle serves on the Discipleship and Connection Council.

Hannah Allison

1st Grade


Miss Allison teaches 1st grade and loves making learning fun and engaging!. She holds a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Lourdes University in Sylvania Ohio. . Outside of the classroom Hannah is very involved with Garden Park Christian Church where she serves on the praise team and with the High School ministry. She loves traveling, spending time with family and friends and also reading!

Kim Baskey

Elementary Art


Mrs. Baskey teaches Elementary Art and Physical Education. She holds a B.A. in Art from the University of Toledo. Mrs. Baskey and her husband, Phil, serve together in Children’s Ministry at Foundation Stone Church. They have three children: Hannah, Jonathan, and Benjamin.

Lynnadene Carrell

2nd Grade


Miss Carrell has been at TCS for more than 30 years and is currently teaching second grade. Before teaching second grade for the last 9 years, she spent 21 years teaching third grade. For the last 10 years, Miss Carrell has also proctored the entrance testing for new students to TCS. She holds a B.Ed. and M.Ed. in Elementary Education from the University of Toledo. She attends Gateway Baptist Church.

Katie Castor

2nd Grade


Mrs. Castor teaches second grade at TCS.  She is a TCS Eagle through and through!  She graduated from TCS in 1999, as did her husband Tim, and went on to receive a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Bowling Green State University. Katie has taught for over ten years in public and Christian settings, including the TCS Eagle’s Nest.  Katie and Tim have four children, three of which are current TCS students. The family attends First Alliance Church in downtown Toledo.

Karen Ciesler

6th Grade


Mrs. Ciesler loves teaching sixth grade and has been doing so for nearly 20 years! She graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri with bachelor’s degrees in both elementary education and education for the handicapped-developmentally disabled. She has been teaching in both Christian and public schools since the early 1990s.  She and her husband, Walt, have 2 children, both alumni of TCS, and 3 grandchildren. Her family attends Maumee United Methodist.

Kathryn Dieselberg

3rd Grade


Mrs. Dieselberg teaches third grade. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Concordia University Chicago, with endorsements in Language Arts and Middle School, along with a Minor in Theology. Mrs. Dieselberg is in her fifth year of teaching, and has taught almost all subject areas at many elementary grade levels. She and her husband Skyler enjoy worship at Redeemer Fellowship Church in Monroe, Michigan where they serve with the Missions Board and the Young Adult Ministry.

Kelley Donawa

Student Services Coordinator


Kelley was born and raised in the Toledo area.  She studied at BGSU and received a Bachelor’s in Special Education K – 12 and a Master’s in Counseling.  She is married to Marc and together they have 5 children; all of whom attend TCS. Kelley enjoys attending all three of her sons’ sporting events…..football, basketball, and baseball, where her two little girls are the biggest cheerleaders!  In her family’s free time they enjoy family time on a sunny beach anywhere…. especially Barbados, where her husband Marc is from! The Donawa family attends and worships at Fallen Timbers Community Church.

Michele Durbin

Homeschool Director


Mrs. Durbin holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Toledo. Prior to homeschooling her children, she taught in the public school system for 9 years. Her oldest son graduated from the TC Homeschool Program and she currently has 3 daughters attending on campus. Mrs. Durbin is a TCS alumni. She and her husband, Ron, both met at Toledo Christian. The Durbin Family attends CedarCreek Church.

Jeff Gagle

6th Grade


Mr. Gagle teaches 6th grade He holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Liberty University and a masters in School Leadership and Supervision from Cairn University. Mr. Gagle has taught elementary, math, science and Bible at all levels in Christian schools. He and his wife Elaine have 3 children that are all TCS graduates. The family attends Shiloh Christian Union Church.

Carrie Gorsuch

5th Grade


Carrie Gorsuch teaches fifth grade at Toledo Christian School. She graduated from TCS in the first graduating class of 1987. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Cedarville University in 1991, followed by a Master of Education degree from The University of Toledo. In addition to her previous teaching experiences at Owens Community College and Prince of Peace in Virginia, she taught at Toledo Christian from 1991-1996 and returned in 2012. Carrie is married to Scot, the pastor at Boulevard Christian Church in Sylvania. Her youngest child, Laura, is a Junior at TCS.

Laura Knierim

4th Grade


Laura graduated with an degree in Elementary Education from Elmhurst College and a MEd from Olivet Nazarene University. She is married to Mark and they have three children: Sawyer, Sophia and Molly. In her free time, you can find her outside in her flower garden, mowing the grass and planning what to do next in the yard or checking in on her chickens and ducks. The Knierim’s worship at Westgate Chapel.

Jennifer Koester

5th Grade


Mrs. Koester is a fifth grade teacher. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education with a specialization in math, science and reading, from Bowling Green State University. Mrs. Koester has taught all subjects at the middle and elementary school levels in the public and private settings. She and her husband Brandon have two children, both current TCS students. The family attends Cedar Creek Church.

Pam Laws

Kindergarten Aide


Pam Laws is a longterm parent of TCS. She and her husband, Frank, have three children, all of which have had a successful career at TCS. She is re entering the workforce as a teacher’s aide in the kindergarten program. Pam Laws is a native born Texan and holds a BA in Christian Minisries- Counseling from Belhaven University in Jackson, MS.

Ruth Nowak

WINGS Coordinator


Mrs. Nowak is the director of the WINGS program, as well as a reading specialist. She holds a M. Ed in Special Education from Bowling Green State University and has advanced training in the Orton-Gillingham method of teaching reading to dyslexic students. Her passion is helping students become better readers. She and her husband have three sons, all TCS graduates, and six grandchildren. They attend Maumee Valley Grace Brethren Church.

Amanda Phillips



Mrs. Phillips teaches Kindergarten at TCS. She holds a M.A. in Elementary Education from Liberty University and a M.A. in counseling from Oakland University. Mrs. Phillips was a guidance counselor in Virginia for three years before moving to the classroom. She and her husband Dexter live in South Toledo with their adorable, mischievous Beagle pup, Bailey! Mrs. Phillips and her husband attend Maumee Grace Brethren Church.


Kim Pontious

1st Grade


Ms. Pontious teaches First Grade. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Lourdes University and a Master of Education from the University of Toledo. Before teaching first grade, she taught Kindergarten and in the Eagle’s Nest. Her four children enjoy being a part of the TC student body. Ms. Pontious and her family attend Calvary Church.

Dave Prediger



Mr. Prediger teaches Junior High and High School Physical Education. He holds a Bachelors degree in Physical Education and Biological Sciences from Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mr. Prediger has taught Physical Education, Health, and Science at the Junior High and High school level. He is currently a soccer coach at the high school level and also has experience at the college level. He and his wife have one son who attends TCS. The family attends Trinity Lutheran Church.

Paula Prediger

Physical Education


Mrs. Prediger teaches Preschool, Elementary, and Junior High Physical Education. She holds a Bachelor of Education degree from The University of Toledo. Mrs. Prediger’s Physical Education experience includes all ages from preschool thru high school. When she is not teaching, she is coaching field hockey at the high school level. She and her husband Dave have one son who is currently a student at TCS. The family attends Trinity Lutheran Church.

Elisa Roush

Remedial Reading


Miss Roush teaches Elementary Reading Club classes and one-on-one Orton-Gillingham tutoring sessions. She holds an M.Ed. from Regent University in K-12 Special Education with a Reading Specialist endorsement, as well as a B.A. in English Literature from Wheaton College. Miss Roush is a TCS graduate and is proud to be teaching at her alma mater. She attends CedarCreek Church in South Toledo.

Jessica Runk

4th Grade


Mrs. Runk teaches 4th grade at TCS.  She is a 2008 graduate of Bluffton University with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Early Childhood Education and K-12 Special Education. Jessica and her husband, Jeremy, are proud parents to two boys, Isaiah and Micah!  The Runks worship at Washington Church where Jessica serves in the children’s ministry.  She loves spending time with her family and baking.

Jeanne Segler

Higher Ground


Mrs. Segler holds a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and is certified to teach grades PreK-9 and holds a two-year Bible degree from Rapha Bible College Intl. Her undergraduate and masters studies in Drama/Theatre for the Young at Eastern Michigan University allowed her to travel extensively performing with the EMU TOY touring company. She began her teaching career at Toledo Christian in 1986.

Her real passion is to live for the praise of God’s glorious grace as revealed in Ephesians 1:11-14. Mrs. Segler attends Harmony House of Rapha Ministries with her friends and family.

Kara Segler

4th Grade


Miss Segler is a 2010 alumni and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education with concentrations in mathematics and science. When not in the classroom, Miss Segler enjoys traveling, recording music, and coaching high school girls basketball. She currently attends Harmony House in Erie, Michigan, where she sings and is the lead drummer on the worship team.

Jenna Sims

3rd Grade


Mrs. Sims teaches third grade. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and has minors in Language Arts and Physical Education from Spring Arbor University. Mrs. Sims is also a TCS alumni, she having graduated from Toledo Christian in 2008. She and her husband, Grant, both met at Toledo Christian. They now currently reside in Maumee, Ohio and attend Washington Church in Toledo, Ohio.

Barbara Smith



Mrs. Smith teaches Lower School Music.  She holds a B.A. in Music and Non-Profit/Arts Administration from the University of Toledo.  Mrs. Smith plays the flute and has been a church Music Director for over 30 years.  She and her husband, Ron, have two children, Natalie and Nicole.  Natalie is a junior at Lynn Conservatory and Nicole is a sophomore at TCS.  The family attends Elliston Zion United Methodist Church.

Heather Taylor

1st Grade


Heather Taylor holds a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Mrs. Taylor taught previously in the Eagle’s Nest Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten since 2005, but now is teaching first grade at TCS. She and her husband Andy have two daughters, Rylie and Madison, both current TCS students. Their family attends Perrysburg Alliance Church.

Carol Tropf



Mrs. Tropf received a B.S. in Elementary Education from Geneva College and holds a current Ohio teaching license, as well as ACSI certification.  Mrs. Tropf taught second grade at Chapel Hill Christian School in Akron and has taught third grade and kindergarten at TCS. She and her husband Jim have two daughters who graduated from TCS. Mr. and Mrs. Tropf attend First Alliance Church.

Mark Buehler

English, Science


Mr. Buehler is a 2016 graduate of Lourdes University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in history. Mark and his wife, Hannah, are parents to pre-kindergartner, Shoshana. The Buehlers worship at CrossPoint Community Church where Mark teaches the High School Sunday School class and plays drums for the worship team.

Christina Cassity

Christina Cassity is an alumnus of Toledo Christian Schools (’09). She graduated with a Bachelor’s in English from Muskingum University in 2013. She attends Cedar Creek South Campus and has a niece and nephew attending TCS.

Rebekah Clark



Rebekah Clark, a graduate of the University of Findlay, has taught foreign languages at the elementary, junior high, high school, online school, and community college levels. She studied French at the Alliance Française in Paris and spent two years teaching missionary children in Togo, West Africa, As part of her master’s degree program, she spent a summer teaching English to teachers in Slovakia. She attends Grace United Methodist Church in Perrysburg.

Sam Clausen

Math, History


Sam Clausen holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Religion from Hillsdale College.  He previously taught at a classical charter school in Atlanta, Georgia, where he coached middle school cross-country.  He will teach JH/HS Math and History at TCS.  Originally from Michigan, Mr. Clausen is excited to be back in the Midwest.  He is an avid Cubs fan, but is creating space in his heart for the Toledo Mud Hens.  He attends Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Elise Clines

Elise Clines received her B.A in Art and Spanish from Hillsdale College.  She will teach JH/HS English and Bible.  She is a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Sylvania.  In her free time, Ms. Clines runs a small online business selling her artwork and enjoys sharing in ministry to the rural areas of the Dominican Republic.


Don Dressel

Bible Dept Chair, Biology, Physics, Bible


Mr. Dressel has been teaching in Christian schools for the past 30 years. He holds degrees from the National Institute of Technology (Biomedical Electronics/Communications), and holds BA degrees from the Moody Bible Institute in Education and Pastoral Theology. Mr. Dressel has taught secondary math ranging from Algebra I through Calculus, various Computer Programming courses, Biology, Physics, and a number of Bible related classes. He has coached boys and girls volleyball, basketball, football, and track. Mr. Dressel attends Waterville Community Church.

Ralph Felzer

Humanities Dept Co-Chair, English


Mr. Felzer is co-chair of the Humanities Dept. He teaches primarily high school English and is advisor for the Senior Capstone project. He received both his B.A. in English Literature and M. Ed. in Secondary Education from the University of Toledo. He taught Composition at UT and Owens Community College for over 25 years. Mr. Felzer is married to his favorite Canadian (Sandy). He and his wife attend Grace Church.

Maryann Iffland

JH/HS Latin


Maryann graduated as Salutatorian of her high school class, and has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing, being recognized in Sigma Theta Tau, the National Nurses Honor Society. She home-educated her 4 children for over 20 years, with an emphasis on classical education. She currently teaches Latin Forms I-III for Jr High and High School students, trains lay people and medical staff in CPR, markets her Healthy Home-Ec curriculum that she wrote and published, works with International College Students, and is active in her church and mentoring the younger generation. The Ifflands worship at Westgate Chapel.

Cathleen Johnson

Co-Head Teacher, Mathematics Dept Chair, Mathematics, Health


Mrs. Johnson has been teaching math for over 16 years.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Regents College in Albany, NY. She and her husband have 3 grown children and six grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson and her husband attend Cornerstone Church, Eastwood Campus. Cathleen and her husband live on a small hobby farm with a few steer, lots of chickens, a goat, a horse. She loves to bring energy and creativity to her classroom everyday!

Andrea Kanfeld

House Co-Coordinator, Bible, Foods, ACT Prep


Mrs. Andrea Kanfeld has been a teacher at Toledo Christian Schools for 10 years. She teaches Cooking, 10th grade Bible, and ACT Prep classes in the high school. Mrs. Kanfeld is the assistant coordinator for the House program. She is also the adviser for the TC Cares community service outreach. Mrs. Kanfeld is married to John Kanfeld. Their four children are all graduates of Toledo Christian Schools.

Andrea Maccariella

Fine Arts Dept Chair, Art


Mrs. Maccariella teaches JH/HS Art. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Siena Heights University ’90. This is her 15th year teaching at TC! She and her husband, Mike, have two young adults. Megan is a Senior at TC and Logan is a Sophomore at BGSU. They attend Calvary Church and her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 139:23,24. Her Passion is Creating and teaching others to love art.

Tasha McGraner

Anatomy, Biochemistry, Earth & Space, JH Science


Mrs. McGraner is starting her eleventh year teaching in the Middle & High school setting. She loves inquiry-based, project-based, and hands-on learning whenever applicable! She also loves her husband, Chris, of thirteen years, and her three dogs Daisy, Max, & Chloe. She is currently assistant coach for Cross Country, but has loved coaching tennis, softball, volleyball, and cheerleading for the the last 16 years. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Wright State University and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction – STEM from Concordia University. They currently attend Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Kelli Mewborn

Intervention Specialist, Jon Peterson Coordinator


Mrs. Mewborn coordinates the Jon Peterson Scholarship and is an intervention specialist. She has master’s degrees in both education and sociology, and has a B.A. in psychology. Mrs. Mewborn has taught at TCS since 2006. Prior to teaching, she was a licensed social worker. Mrs. Mewborn and her husband, Todd, are parents to Jacob, who graduated from TCS in 2017. The Mewborns attend Cedar Creek Church.

Marie Minniear

Co-Head Teacher, Science Dept Chair, Physical Science, Chemistry


Ms. Minniear has been teaching Physical Science and Chemistry at Toledo Christian Schools since 2005. Her mission is to help students cultivate a strong, transformational faith in Jesus the Christ, build strong Godly character that is a testimony to the lost and brings honor and glory to the Lord, and develop a strong mind with which they can boldly proclaim and defend Truth. All three of her children are TCS graduates. Ms. Minniear is a member of Grace Church.

Taylor Nickeson

Band Director


Mrs. Nickeson teaches elementary, junior high, and high school band classes. She is from Lorain, Ohio and attended the University of Toledo earning her Bachelor’s in Music Education. Mrs. Nickeson attends Gesu Catholic Church in Toledo.

Jim Pinkelman

Theatre Director, Geometry, Statistics, Business, Psychology, Sociology


Jim earned his BA from the University of Toledo and his Masters from Vision Christian Bible College and Seminary. He has been at TCS since 2005 in various positions. He began as an assistant Cross Country coach taking over as the Head coach in 2009. He is also has been the High School Theatre Director since 2010. He became a teacher, first part time and then full time in 2012. He enjoys all he does at TCS and looks forward to what God has planned for him in the future. Jim has been married to his lovely wife Suzan since 1986 and they have two children Benjamin and Natalie who both are graduates of TCS.  He loves spending time with his family and participating in triathlons. The Pinkelman’s attend City on a Hill Teaching Center.

Dennis Rabb

English, Psychology


Dennis Rabb has enjoyed the privilege of teaching English, Bible, and Psychology at TCS for the past 30 years. He holds a BA from Judson University, a M. Div. from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, and teaching credentials from the University of Toledo. Dennis has been married to Cheri for over 35 years, and together they have three wonderful children: Rachel, Timothy, and Stephen. While Dennis feels these years have passed by so quickly, he still looks forward to each new day the Lord has granted him and thoroughly loves both teaching and learning with his students.  The Rabb’s attend Bedford Alliance Church.

Jim Sheets

Spanish, Bible


Mr. Sheets (Señor Sheets) has taught at Toledo Christian for the past 20 years. He currently teaches Spanish levels One, Two, and Three as well as the Junior Bible classes (Acts). Mrs. Sheets also works at TCS as the front desk Receptionist. They have three children and two grandchildren. Prior to coming to Toledo Christian Schools, the Sheets were missionaries in Mexico and ministered at Christian schools in Florida.

Danielle Sidebottom

Junior High/High School Counselor


Danielle Sidebottom is TCS’ JH/HS Counselor. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Hope College and her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Spring Arbor University. Mrs. S enjoys spending time with her family/friends, a good cup of coffee, traveling, and working out. Mrs. S also brings her therapy dog, Grace, a Golden Retriever to school occasionally. She attends CedarCreek Church and loves being a part of TCS!

Andrew Skeels



Mr. Skeels teaches mathematics to the Toledo Christian high school students. He holds a Bachelors in Adolescent and Young Adult Education from Bowling Green State University. He also holds a State of Ohio certification to teach grades 7-12 in Mathematics. He and his wife, Hannah, will be celebrating 8 years of marriage this fall and they have 4 children. Two of their children attend TCS; Lena (1st grade), Phoebe (pre-school). Jaxson and Clayton are their baby boys. The Skeels family attend Northpoint Church in West Toledo where Hannah is the pre-school ministry director. They live in South Toledo, and love being within walking distance from the school. You can always see the Skeels crew out at football practice, the park or walking around the Toledo Zoo.

Scott Timberman

Humanities Dept Co-Chair, History, Rhetoric, NHS & Student Senate Advisor


Mr. Timberman teaches high school Advanced Placement U.S. History, Government, and Rhetoric. He holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from Anderson University, and a J.D. from Indiana University School of Law–Bloomington. Prior to teaching at the high school level, Mr. Timberman practiced law in Indiana for five years. He and his wife Nicole, a TCS graduate, have four children, including two current TCS students. The family attends Covenant Church in Perrysburg where Mr. Timberman facilitates the youth ministry.

Dave Westmeyer

Director of Spiritual Life/HS Bible


Pastor Dave Westmeyer is our Spiritual Life Director. He is a Toledo native who came to know Christ and was called to ministry in high school. Pastor Dave graduated from Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, FL., and has twenty five years of ministry experience. He married his high school sweetheart Debbie (Skeels) Westmeyer. The Westmeyers have three TCS graduates, and a set of twins in elementary school. Dave and his family attend One Hope Church.
